Charity Spotlight – HonorAir Knoxville

This week’s Charity Spotlight is on HonorAir Knoxville. HonorAir Knoxville is dedicated to honoring East Tennessee World War II and Korean War veterans and the sacrifices they made to ensure our freedoms. Their goal is to fly as many East Tennessee World War II and Korean War veterans as possible to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. HonorAir Knoxville is presented by Prestige Cleaners in partnership with the Rotary Foundation of Knoxville and sponsored by Covenant Health and Home Federal Bank of Tennessee.

HonorAir Knoxville has two more trips scheduled this year: August 3, 2011 and October 5, 2011. The trip costs approximately $500 per veteran so financial support of the community is needed to make these flights a reality. The highlight of the day for these Veterans comes when they see the collection of people waiting for them at the gate, cheering and waving flags.
