Stormpulse is a great site for those of us who are interested in not just the storm-making headlines but also the two or three tropical events that are likely to follow.  Behind a sleek and attractive interactive map is a wealth of information about not just active tropical storms, but historical ones as well.  The first thing you’ll notice at Stormpulse is a rich map of the Atlantic basin that features more storms that you’ve likely heard about on the evening news.

FuelClinic.com has a suite of tools that you can use to accurately calculate and track your own fuel mileage (as MPG-US, L/100km, or MPG-UK) and see your actual and projected fuel costs, understand your usage, and practice real-world “exercises” or “clinics” that can help you improve fuel efficiency and decrease your fuel consumption.

LivingSocial.com is a social discovery and cataloging network that allows people to review and share their favorite movies, books, games, music, restaurants and beer.  As the most comprehensive interest-based online community, LivingSocial is now helping more than 6.4 million users catalogue their interests, seamlessly integrating with Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, hi5, and Orkut.  Find out more information about LivingSocial, visit http://www.livingsocial.com/.

I discovered a great little web site over the weekend.  It is called LibraryThing.  LibraryThing is an on line service to help people catalog their books easily.  You can access your catalog from anywhere—even on your mobile phone.  Because everyone catalogs together, LibraryThing also connects people with the same books, comes up with suggestions for what to read next, and so forth.  LibraryThing also searches the Library of Congress, all five national Amazon sites, and more than 80 world libraries to pull your book data.  All you do is provide a title or ISBN.  You can edit your information, search and sort it, “tag” books with your own subjects, or use the Library of Congress and Dewey systems to organize your collection.

If you’re like me and have a lot of books spread out through several rooms of your house, then LibraryThing is the site for you.  You can setup an account that will allow you to catalog up to 200 books for FREE.  And, all you need to provide is a user name and password.
