Today’s photo was taken last October on a weekend trip to Atlanta. This is the Gateway of Dreams sculpture in Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park.
The Gateway of Dreams sculpture pays homage to the founder of the modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, and to the ideals of the games. This monument features the Olympic rings as well as a likeness of the Baron stepping through two Roman columns. As Coubertin once said, “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning, but taking part.”
